London 2012 Olympics: Britons holidaying abroad to avoid the Games

A third of Britons have booked their summer holidays to coincide with the Olympic Games.

Around 10 million will attempt to avoid the chaos that will be offset by the world's largest sporting in the capital.

Nearly two thirds of those planning to leave the country said they were heading to Europe, with Spain named as the most popular destination.

London calling: Over ten million Brits will look to avoid the Olympic Games in the capital this summer

The most popular reason for leaving is to escape the visiting crowds.

That is followed by not wanting to endure the blanket coverage on TV and a dislike of sport.

The survey by foreign exchange service Travelex estimates that around four million of those departing will head abroad in the five days leading up to the Games in July.

People living in and around London, Weymouth and Windsor were the most likely to say they would be going abroad, while those in Northern Ireland and Wales were the least likely.

Cissy Houston on Daughter's Death: Nothing I Could Do

For the first time since the death of her daughter, Cissy Houston has spoken out.

In an interview that will air Monday on New Jersey's My9's 10 O'Clock News, Cissy Houston says she still has her "moments" of mourning since Whitney passed away in February.

"I'm not there yet. I don't think I'm any more courageous than anyone else. I am a true believer in God, if I could bring her back I would, but that's not possible."

News broke yesterday that cocaine was found in Whitney's hotel room, following coroner confirmation that the singer died with that drug in her system.

The artist's substance abuse problems have been well documented, of course, but Cissy says she can't hold herself responsible for these issues, not after so many years of attempting to intervene.

"I know I did the best I could," she says. "I don’t blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything."

While avoiding any public statements until now, Cissy has reportedly been critical of her former son-in-law, Bobby Brown, and has been looking over her granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina. She's now the most direct link Cissy has to Whitney.

"I'm very proud of my daughter," she says in the interview. "She accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here... she was a very wonderful person."

Who's Responsible for Meeting the Cyber Threat?

Recently an old colleague, Dr Andrew Rogoyski, came to lecture to our MSc students on how government deals with cyber security. Dr Rogoyski has studied the interactions between government and industry and his talk led to a key question for which there was a surprising range of views. The question? When and how should government get involved in cyber security?

The UK has the most Internet-centric economy in the G20 group of industrialised nations according to research by the Boston Consulting Group released in March 2012. It estimates that the UK’s internet economy was worth 121bn in 2010, more than 2,000 per person. Couple this with the knowledge that approximately 20 threats per second are discovered on the Internet, and it s not surprising that UK government lists cyber security as a Tier 1 Threat , alongside terrorism. However, recognising the threat is slightly different from actually doing something about it.
